Detailed tutorial on how to apply car paint protection film

Ⅰ. Tools and materials

First, prepare GWF car paint protection film, which needs to be pre-cut or purchased in full rolls according to the car model, spray bottle (filled with water + neutral detergent mixture, the ratio is about 1:100), utility knife, scraper, hot air gun, non-woven towel, masking tape, as well as car wash liquid, volcanic mud, degreaser, etc.

Ⅱ. Environmental requirements

Try to choose a dust-free indoor environment to avoid direct sunlight and dust. The temperature is recommended to be between 15-30℃. Too high or too low humidity may affect ductility.

Ⅲ. Vehicle pretreatment

Before applying the film, clean the car body thoroughly, focusing on removing stubborn stains such as shellac and gum. Use volcanic mud with lubricants to remove the oxide layer and tiny particles from the entire car. Wipe the area to be applied with alcohol degreaser to ensure that there is no oil film residue on the surface.

Ⅰ. Film cutting and positioning, cut the film material according to the size of the door, and leave 5-8cm margin around. Tear off about 1/3 of the protective film backing paper and spray the installation liquid (detergent water) evenly. Align the film material to the surface of the car and preliminarily position it from the middle to the sides.

Ⅱ. Lamination and preliminary fixation

Spray the installation liquid while tearing off the backing paper, and use a soft scraper at a 45° angle to drive water from the center to the edge. Focus on complex parts such as door handles and waistlines, and use a hot air gun to assist in stretching (temperature controlled at 80-120℃). Keep excess film material on the edge and do not cut it for the time being.

Ⅲ. Bubble removal and detail processing

Check whether there are bubbles on the film surface, and use a scraper to push it from the center to the edge in a "herringbone" shape. Stubborn bubbles can be extracted with a syringe and then filled with fluid to compact. When processing the door bowl, the film material must be completely pressed into the groove before cutting.

Ⅳ. Edge finishing and fine cutting

Use a hard scraper to press the film material into the gap (door edge, light group seam, etc.). Keep a 1-2mm margin along the seam for cutting, and keep the blade at a 15° tilt angle. Complex parts are cut in multiple times to avoid scratching the car paint.

Ⅰ. The front bumper needs to be constructed in sections, focusing on the concave and convex shapes of the air intake grille, and the "stretch-retract" method is used to process the curved surface to avoid excessive stretching and subsequent retraction.

Ⅱ. Rearview mirror, it is easier to operate by removing the mirror shell and constructing it separately, and the "cross method" is used to process the spherical curvature

Ⅲ. Roof skylight requires two people to cooperate in operation, and a 3mm safety distance is reserved for the edge of the glass

Inspection and acceptance, observe whether the film surface is flat and free of orange peel at a 45° angle, and check whether the edge is firm by hand, and there is no warping at the joint. Avoid high-speed driving within 48 hours, do not wash the car or touch the film surface joint within 7 days, and extend the curing time to 10 days in winter
